Family Pictures!

Jeremy and I were so excited to get family pictures taken. A wonderful and amazingly talented friend of mine, Marta, came to our home to take all of these pictures. I was so nervous that taking pictures with a newborn would be stressful, but she made the entire process a breeze. She patiently waited as I fed Isaac (again and again) to try and keep him happy and cooperative. And I am so grateful for her understanding and the gift of her time and talent because now we have these fun pictures to share! By the way, Isaac is 10 weeks old in these pictures. Well, ENJOY!!

This picture is especially precious to me. I feel like it embodies the newborn phase. Two new parents, eager and excited to begin the adventure of life with this little one.

Isaac is not an amazing sleeper - so I consider it a MIRACLE that we got a cute "sleeping like a baby" picture of him. I'm so grateful for this photo....
maybe I should put it on his wall to inspire him. :)

Arizona and Law Firms

Do you ever have those moments when you know that you should be unpacking, making a grocery shopping list, or going to sleep (because your baby is actually SLEEPING at the moment)..... but you choose to blog instead???? Well, I am far too responsible for those kinds of moments. :)

Want to hear about what we have been up to?

Well, Jeremy and I (and Isaac - of course) just returned from a spontaneous trip to Arizona. Isaac and I got to spend a full two weeks basking in the Arizona sunshine, surrounded by our favorite sort of people - our family and dearest friends! Jeremy joined us in AZ a few days later, so he has spent the last 9 days in AZ as well. He had to miss school - which is always wonderful until you have to do all of the makeup work. Anyway, here's the story.

Jeremy has been CRAZY busy this semester. He has a lot on his plate - school, part time work, church stuff, extracurriculars, and interviews. He is currently in his second year of law school, which means that he is interviewing for a summer associate (aka intern) position for next summer. After meeting with firms on campus at BYU for a first interview, we were excited (and felt overwhelmingly blessed) when he was invited down to do call back interviews with 6 Phoenix law firms. So... since he had to travel down to Phoenix, Isaac and I just couldn't resist making it into a vacation and joining him!

Quick info about Jeremy's time in Phoenix. First of all, each firm takes an entire day to do a call-back interview. We got into quite a "system". Here's the process...

- I research the firm and the attorneys on the interview schedule the night beforehand, compiling a word document for Jeremy with all of the info on it. (This is while Jeremy works on homework)
- Jeremy checks ESPN and CNN websites to be up on the most recent news, so that he is ready to "small talk" on any subject.
- He heads off to the firm's office and begins a series of 8-10 back to back interviews with attorneys on the hiring committee. Each interview is 30 minutes long.
- He makes notes about each person that he interviewed with during the day.
- Jeremy and I go to a nice dinner with the firm at 5:00 pm (after dropping Isaac off with babysitters - Thank you Mom, Tiffany, and Kelyn!)
- That evening, I write personalized thank you notes to each attorney that Jeremy interviewed with that day (based on his notes about each interview), and I begin to research the next firm. (Jeremy works on homework)

Anyway, sorry about all of the details, but this semester has been a very special time for Jeremy and I. It has been a very unifying process for us to apply to various firms, interview with them, and try to prepare for Jeremy's future career. We have the same goals, the same focus, and it really feels like we are on the same team - working hard to make our dreams into a reality. We are invested together, and it has been wonderful and fun experience for us. Now we just have to wait to hear back from the firms! We will keep you posted. :)


Well, interviewing aside... we loved being in Arizona and we basked in every moment of visiting with family. Isaac giggled and cooed and kicked his little legs and smiled for everyone. I really appreciated everyone's help. It was so nice to relax, show off my baby, and have a little bit of a break from the constant busyness of motherhood.

My mom and three of her grandkids.... she was so happy to enjoy them all! I love that grandparents love grandkids. It's so convenient and helpful!

One day while I was in Arizona (before Jeremy joined us), I came home to find this beautiful bouquet! Jeremy had sent me flowers!!! He said that he missed Isaac and I, and that he was grateful for all that I was doing as a mother and wife during this busy time for him. It just about melted my heart! Even in his busyness he remembered me and took the time to do something special for me. What a wonderful husband! Receiving those flowers was one of those priceless happy marriage moments (you all know what I mean). Thank you Jeremy! My mom (aka "Grandma") can always get a great smile out of Isaac. They had some fun moments together. She held him a lot for me and played with him. It was great!
Even with Jeremy's busy schedule he found time to bond with Isaac. What a wonderful dad! I think that they were both loving this moment!
Isaac has been really enjoying looking at toys and reading stories. He actually looks at them now! :) He grins and coos and kicks his little legs with such energy and excitement. It was nice that in Arizona I didn't have to worry about cooking, cleaning, or grocery shopping - I could just relax, hold my baby, and enjoy him!! It was wonderful!!!

My mom loved giving Isaac his baths. I think that the feeling was mutual. They both look pretty happy to me.

A precious moment together as a family. We were changing Isaac after a bath Sunday night and he proceeded to pee not just on me (that's no big deal anymore) but he covered my shirt and managed to pee down my shirt. What a gift this child has! Anyway, here we are just laughing about the adventures of parenthood. It may be tiring and hard work, but we sure love being a family!
