Curly hair?

The other day I overheard a friend describing Elise to someone else - they said something along the lines of "you know, that cute little girl with curly light brown hair." What?!? Curly hair?

The comment made me laugh (because I don't really think of her hair as curly) and smile - because I LOVE her baby curls. :) Both of my sisters had baby curls - that they grew out of - so I am assuming that Elise will do the same. But I just love these baby curls for now and will enjoy them while they last! Here's a few photos of the baby curls, cute Elise, and some evidence of her constant, massive amounts of drool.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We had some good stay-at-home style fun on St. Patrick's Day.
It was officially dubbed "Green Day" at our house and Isaac loved the novelty of it.

First order of business? What else?
GREEN pancakes.

We wore green clothes and Isaac ate on a green plate with a green fork. So festive.

Later in the day, casually reading a book (a current favorite - "Are You My Mother?"). He was reading it out loud to me - and doing a pretty good job at it too.

In the afternoon we colored small paper bags with a green marker and went on a "Green hunt" through our house. We set the timer and searched around the house for green objects to fill our bags with. Then we dumped them out and looked at each other's finds - put them back - and (you guessed it!) did it again.

The day ended with me going out on the town for a fabulous girl's night out dinner at Olive Garden - in honor of Michelle Johnston's birthday. It was so relaxing (and yummy!) to visit and chat with friends. It was a fun St. Patrick's day!

More Magnadoodle

This girl is smart. She knows which toys are most valuable. And she is already a fan of the ever-popular magnadoodle.

Luckily we also have a similar drawing toy that keeps her happy for now - when they both want to play with it at the same time.

The drawing below is "Isaac in bed". I love it!!!

Warm(er) Weather!

As the weather is getting a little warmer here we are loving spending time outside!
We like to go on walks, but we also just simply enjoy being outside. Here we are one day in our front yard. Can you tell we've been a little cooped up?
Isaac was SO happy to be running around...

Look how obedient he is (even if he is a little likely to live on the very EDGE of obedience). He knows that he can't go in the street!And Elise is thrilled to be outside too. What a cutie patootie. She is going to love it all even more when she is able to walk around and explore on her own!

Looking forward to spending more and more time outside!

Pushing the Laundry Basket

As Elise is practicing and getting ready to start walking she has loved standing up and pushing random things around. We have a walking toy, but the wheels on it make it roll very easily and thus slide away from her too quickly. She recently discovered the joy of pushing the laundry basket around - perfect height, slides well on the carpet. Ideal.

Yep, happy as can be.

And good thing we have two of them!

Our Artist... Hard at Work

As we all know - Isaac loves his magnadoodle.
Here he is very focused learning how to trace shapes on it.

And - Isaac's rendition of a lion.

So - I read on a friend's blog that she tries to let her kids do something "messy" every day - nothing major, but just some way for her kids to express their creativity. She said that it helps her kids get some of their energy (desire to make a mess) out. Anyway, I was inspired. I want to be that kind of a mom! And with our cooped up winter days - I thought I would give it a try and provide some different ways for Isaac to be creative and artistic. Oh - and I remembered that growing up I had a "paint" shirt (genius idea!) so I pulled out an old t-shirt to be Isaac's "paint" shirt.

Anyway, here's a couple of the projects that we have tried.

I know these projects aren't much... but it is different than crayons or the magnadoodle... and we both enjoyed it! I look forward to trying more projects with our little Artist!
